Matangi island in Fiji offers exceptional fishing year round. The island is surrounded by a protective reef. Fishermen may also visit  the reef systems at Laucala and Qamea islands. The conditions around Matangi island are well suited for deep sea fishing as well as fly fishing.

Deep sea fishing results in catches of Tuna, Mahimahi year round as well as sailfish in the summertime. Fly fishermen will find the reef fish available in the lagoon.

Matangi Island is home to a beautiful resort. The Matangi Private Island Resort's  boat can be charted for fishing expeditions. The boat captain is local and very skilled with an extensive knowledge of the lcoal fishing grounds. Fishing gear is available at the resort, however, you may want to bring your own gear if you are a serious sports fisherman. Fly-fishing gear is not available, please bring you own.
